This element is really hard for people to understand. And I know exactly how they think! When I was told this, I rejected it. Why would I want to do this to myself? It did not make sense.
But at the end of the day no matter how much I tried to ignore that truth, it was accurate, my thoughts where the basis of my anxiety. I experimented with it. The higher I focused my energy on the anxiety the stronger my nervousness attack became. So with the help of a therapist, I was able to work on my thoughts and defeat my nervousness.
It would be a lie to say I am anxiety free, however I am a lot more able to deal with anxiety, I've more coping strategies. Managing anxiety is now much easier for me.
Another to bear in mind, is that nervousness may be unpleasant, but it isn't always a difficult thing. This nervousness can help up be alert, the adrenalin can keep us focused.
